Advances in technology have taken the workplace to levels most of us never imagined possible. And with changes happening on an almost daily basis, it’s important to have an IT provider that keeps your company ahead of your competitors. So, what’s happening in technology in 2015? We can expect to see:
Small Businesses and Cloud Technology
Small businesses are increasingly utilizing Cloud solutions instead of investing in office hardware and purchasing software. Companies are developing office infrastructure on the cloud which cuts costs and makes the workplace accessible remotely.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
With workplace software and data accessible via Cloud, offices are becoming more flexible with where and how employees work. BYOD policies, which allow employees to use their personal mobile devices, will continue to evolve, as companies save on the purchase of expensive office machines.
Wearable Technology
Fitness bands, smart watches and activity trackers will continue to proliferate in 2015. We’ll also see smart jewelry, wearable cameras (move over, Selfie Stick), and more companies attempting smart glasses and eye ware — the demise of Google Glass is not stopping anyone.
Mobile Payment
With the launch of Apple Pay in October 2014, the mobile wallet race is underway. According to Emazzanti Technologies, “More than 20% of worldwide payment transactions are made with a mobile device.” Look for competitors such as Google Wallet and Paypal to up their mobile payment capabilities.
Demand for Internet Anonymity
Though the failures of “anonymous” apps and social media services such as Whisper and Snapchat were well publicized in 2014, developers will continue to create more secure networks and messaging services in 2015. The demand for anonymous communication and behavior on the internet is still great, given the “identity fatigue” many feel from dealing with traditional social networks.
